Our mission
"Benefit the community of Sigonella by educating the public on humane principles of responsible animal ownership, preventing animal cruelty and mitigating pet abandonment.
Advocate for the wellbeing and humane treatment of the stray animals around the Sigonella area.
Provide community outreach programs and host events to teach humane principles, and to prevent animal cruelty or abandonment."
How we carry out our mission
We work toward our mission through hands-on rescue efforts, education, and community support. Our approach focuses on long-term impact — helping animals in need today while working to prevent suffering in the future.
SAWS supports animals through rescue, medical care, foster homes, and adoption, while also providing resources and guidance to the community. By sharing knowledge, encouraging responsible pet ownership, and collaborating with local partners, we aim to create lasting, positive change for both animals and people in the Sigonella area.
Our mission guides every decision we make — from the animals we take into our care to the resources we provide and the boundaries we maintain as a volunteer-run organization.
SAWS operates as a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization and relies on community support to fulfill this mission.
