Who we are

Sigonella Animal Welfare Society Inc. (SAWS) is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization supporting animal rescue efforts in Sicily, with a strong connection to the local community.

We operate as a foster-based rescue, which means we do not have a physical shelter facility. Animals in our care live in foster homes where they can recover, learn, and receive individualized care until they are adopted.

Many of the animals we help come from difficult backgrounds - including abandonment, neglect, or life on the streets. Our goal is to provide them with safety, medical care, and the opportunity to become healthy, adoptable companions.

While the need for help in Sicily is immense, SAWS works within realistic limits to ensure we can provide proper care and support for every animal we take in. We cannot save every animal, but we are committed to making a meaningful difference where we can - one life at a time.
